Good Shepherd

Good Shepherd   John 10:1-5 『 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber. But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep. To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out. And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers. 』 In John 9, Jesus said that the Pharisees were blind who could not see the kingdom of God. They were the ones who knew and practiced God's law better than anyone else, but in fact, they were spiritually blind. They were caught up in the "false pretext of keeping the Sabbath," and missed the true spirit of the Sabbath, which is God's love and mercy. Therefore, their law-keeping was not a to...

Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

Unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.   John 3:3-5  『 Jesus answered and said to him, 'Very truly I tell you, unless one is born again ( γεννηθ ῇ ), he cannot see the kingdom of God.' Nicodemus said to him, 'How can a man be born when he is old? Can he enter a second time into his mother's womb and be born?' Jesus answered, 'Very truly I tell you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. The Greek word for 'born again' is gennedeh ( γεννηθ ῇ , basic form gennao), which means to give birth, to be born, to give birth to a baby. Since Jesus spoke as if one must be born again, Nicodemus misunderstood that he must be born physically again, and was talking about a second womb. However, Jesus rebuked Nicodemus, saying that a so-called rabbi does not know the reason. In the Old Testament, when people committed a sin, they brought a sacrificial offering, transferred their sins, ki...

David and Goliath

David and Goliath   1 Samuel 17:48-49  『 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came, and drew nigh to meet David, that David hastened, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine. And David put his hand in his bag, and took then a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth. 』 This is a scene from the battle between David of Israel and Goliath of the Philistines during the time of King Saul of Israel when the Philistine army invaded Israel. On the surface, Goliath was a man of great stature, wearing armor and carrying a sword, but David was a shepherd boy with a stick and five slings. The leader in the vanguard determined the outcome of the war, but on the surface, it was a fight where they were no match. However, Goliath fell to his death from a sling shot by David. Therefore, the fight between David and Goliath is cited in various forms even today as a war...
